Van Breda B.V., a Dutch company specialising in innovative healthcare technology solutions, has partnered with Norik to enhance the embedded systems powering its next-generation products.
With more than 45 years of experience, Van Breda develops advanced communication, alarm, and sensor-based systems used across elderly care, disability care (VG), and mental healthcare (GGZ). Their solutions focus on improving efficiency, safety, and comfort in care environments, while enabling healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, “warm” care.
As part of this collaboration, Norik contributed its expertise in embedded Linux and multimedia processing to support highly specialized system requirements. The joint work included:

  • Integration of a custom camera sensor using the NXP i.MX8M Plus (i.MX8MP) ISP
  • Development of optimized image processing pipelines for smart healthcare applications
  • Implementation of DSP-based audio processing using the Sound Open Firmware (SOF) framework

Van Breda’s solutions increasingly rely on intelligent sensing and real-time data processing, such as smart image sensors and AI-based detection systems used in healthcare environments.  This makes robust and efficient embedded platforms a key enabler for their innovation.
By combining Van Breda’s deep domain expertise in healthcare technology with Norik’s strong background in embedded Linux, multimedia, and system integration, the partnership delivers scalable and future-ready platforms for modern healthcare solutions.
